Hydrangea Viewing No.296-Jun.01, 2021

It's been a refreshing sunny day in May since morning.
Though the temperature in the daytime is forecast to increase up to 26 ℃, I feel the
arrival of so much refreshing early summer.

Since I have been depressive due to the Covid-19 catastrophe and clavicular fracture,
I went out to get refreshed after a long interval.
I decided to visit Mimuroto-ji temple (in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture) which is known as
the flower temple I saw in the newspaper.

According to its article, it will open a hydrangea garden boasting about 50 species
and a total of about 20,000 shares on June 1st.
In time with it, “Rising dragon (nobori-ryu)” expressed with a total of 600 pots of
hydrangea is open to the public.

The chief priest organized it in the hope of the end of Covid-19 and economic
recovery.
He expressed the figure of a dragon ascending to heaven in search of the sacred
gem in the mandara of the temple treasure with flower in rainy season.

Wearing a backpack and a hat, I left my home in Kusatsu.
I changed to the JR Nara Line at Kyoto Station to get to Uji Station.
The nearest station to the temple is Mimuroto Station on the Keihan Uji Line.
Since it takes about 15 minutes on foot to the temple, I decided to take a taxi from
JR Uji Station in consideration of the heat.

 I got to Mimuroto-ji temple at 10:50.
There are the worshippers for viewing “nobori-ryu”here and there in the approach
to the temple.
This is my second time to visit here.
When I checked my homepage, I found that I visited here in June 2010 to view hydrangea.

Please see below for articles about the temple and previous visit.

When I go along the approach, I can see the hydrangea garden expanding
on my right and the vermilion temple gate in front.
Remnants of azaleas were in bloom on the roadside.
This environment surrounded by greenery is very refreshing and really comfortable.

When I go further along the approach, I can see the steep stone steps leading to the
main hall.
I found it!!!
It's Syoryu-zu (a figure of a dragon ascending to heaven) represented by potted
hydrangea put on the ston steps.
The red flowers of hydrangea represent the sacred gem and the dragon's eyes,
the white ones represent the body and the blue ones represent the sky.
It's represented by 600 potted hydrangea put on a total of 60 ston steps.
The dragon was rising in the blue sky.

When I climb the stone steps, I can see the main hall in front and many potted lotus
lined up infront of it.
This scene makes a beautiful picture.

On the right side of the main hall, I can see the Amidado, the bell tower, and the
three-storied pagoda side by side.

There was Ukifune histric site beside the bell tower.

(Note)
The last 10 chapters of the 54 chapters of “The Tale of Genji” by Murasaki Shikibu
are mainly set in Uji, so they are commonly called “Uji-Jujo(10 Uji chapters)”.
The historic sites associated with them were set by fancier in posterity.
There are now 10 histric sites of Uji-Jujo of “The Tale of Genji” around both
banks of the Uji river centering on the Uji Bridge.

After strolling around the main hall, I went down the stone steps to stroll in the
hydrangea garden.
It spreads out around a grove of cedar trees.

Maybe the temperature has risen and it gets a little hot and humid.
When I'm walking, I'm getting a little sweaty.
The number of women who look around with an open parasol has increased.

As uou can see, the flowers of hydrangea at the park still seems to be one-third
in bloom.
Off course, there are only a few hydrangea in full bloom.

When I appreciated flowers in the wilderness surrounded by a lush forest, I felt
refreshed and relaxed, and it was a great distraction.
